Colored Fillings

Home – Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings represent the modern standard for restoring cavities, replacing outdated metal restorations. Thanks to advanced material technology, they provide high durability and strong adhesion to tooth structure, while maintaining a natural, aesthetic appearance.

What Are Tooth-Colored Fillings?

Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resin materials that chemically bond to the tooth structure and blend seamlessly with the natural shade of the tooth.

They exhibit a ‘chameleon effect,’ meaning the transition between restoration and natural enamel is virtually undetectable.

Modern composite technology ensures long-term durability, resistance to staining, and does not promote an increased risk of secondary decay when properly placed.

When Is a Different Restoration Indicated?

When a significant amount of tooth structure has been lost, a direct composite filling may not be the ideal solution, as composite materials may not withstand extensive occlusal forces in large restorations.

In such cases, after proper tooth preparation and impressions, a laboratory-fabricated inlay or onlay—made of porcelain or ceramic resin—may be recommended. This restoration is bonded to the tooth, providing maximum strength and long-term stability.

Safety and Durability

Composite resins are strong and reliable materials suitable for everyday chewing function when used in appropriate clinical situations. Selection of the most suitable restorative method is determined after a comprehensive clinical evaluation.
